PC Ends Year With Third Straight Win

CLINTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College concluded its inaugural NCAA Division I season on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Radford at Martin Soccer Stadium.

The victory ends PC's season with the Blue Hose 6-7-1. The Blue Hose finished the season with three straight wins over their future Big South Conference foes in VMI, High Point and Radford.

The three-game winning streak ties the Blue Hose season-high as PC also won three consecutive games in the middle of September.

Radford (9-9) in contrast ends their season with a three-game losing streak after losses to Palmetto State foes Winthrop, Coastal Carolina and Presbyterian College.

The Blue Hose struck first in the game in the 40th-minute when Tricia Bryan (Pawleys Island, S.C.) broke loose from a Radford defender in the 18-yard box and then deftly placed the ball into the lower left corner of the net past Radford starting goalkeeper Alex Traughber.

The Blue Hose made sure that they would end senior day at Martin Stadium with a victory when Christy Howard (Lilburn, Ga.) scored off a deflection in the Radford box just two minutes into the second half.

The Highlanders finished with seven more shots than the Blue Hose at 16-9, but PC had the edge in corner kicks at 3-2.

The shutout win was the fourth of the year for the Blue Hose. Senior Erin Sinkuler (Rowell, Ga.) picked up the majority of the shutout, playing 88:25 between the pipes for PC in the win over Radford.

The home victory left PC 3-2-1 at Martin Stadium in 2007, while the win over the Big South's Radford ended PC's year with the Blue Hose ending their first season owning a .500 record against their future league foes at 3-3-1.
