CHARLESTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College claimed its first women's soccer win as an NCAA Division I institution in a dominating 5-0 victory over The Citadel on Friday afternoon.
The Blue Hose had four different players find the back of the net in the contest. Kate Baker (Forsyth, Ga.) led the way, scoring twice for PC in the win over the Bulldogs.
Millie Green (Columbia, S.C.) kicked off the scoring for the Blue Hose when she scored in just the second minute of the contest. A little over six minutes later Tricia Bryan (Pawleys Island, S.C.) scored her first of 2007 to put PC ahead 2-0.
The Blue Hose were held scoreless for the rest of the first half, but Baker started the second half off with a bang by scoring just 27 seconds into the second half.
She scored once again two minutes later to set the score at 4-0.
Maggie Carruth (Roswell, Ga.) scored with just under three minutes left in the game to give PC the 5-0 shutout victory.
In total, PC outshot the Bulldogs 17-11.
Three Blue Hose recorded assists in the game, including Lytle Cannon (Spartanburg, S.C.), who had two assists in the win. Freshman Alicia Keel (Williston, S.C.) and junior Christy Howard (Lilburn, Ga.) also secured assists.
The Blue Hose improved to 1-2 with the victory, while The Citadel fell to 1-5 on the year.
PC will try and pick up its second win of the year in its first home tilt of the season at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16 against Lipscomb.
