ATHENS, Ga.- Freshman Katlin Moore led all PC scorers with 15 points in a 93-49 Presbyterian College loss to seventh-ranked Georgia at Stegeman Coliseum on Wednesday evening.
The Lady Blue Hose fall to 1-15 on the campaign with the loss, while Georgia extends their unbeaten streak to start the season to 13-0.
Bridget Takach scored nine for the Lady Blue Hose in the loss, while Lea Smith added eight points for the PC in the contest.
Moore (Fort Mill, S.C.) hit 4-of-8 shots from the floor and grabbed four rebounds. Takach (Chapin, S.C.) led the team with two three-pointers, while also sharing a team-high two steals in the contest.
Smith converted 4-of-6 shots in the paint, while accounting for four caroms.
Tishe Sanders (Laurens, S.C.) paced the team in the loss to Georgia with five boards.
Three Georgia players posted double-figure games led by Megan Darrah's 20 points. Teammate Ashley Houts scored 16 points, netting seven of her points from the charity stripe.
Tasha Humphrey recorded a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 14 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Blue Hose finished by hitting 34.7 percent (17-of-49) of their shots from the floor and connecting on four 3-ptrs in the game. Georgia countered by converting 31-of-67 field goal attempts (46.3 percent), scoring 28 of their points in the middle.
Presbyterian converted 11-of-27 (40.7 percent) of their field goals in the first half, marking the first time since the victory over South Carolina State on Dec. 4 that the Blue Hose had reached the 40 percent plateau in the opening half.
Georgia jumped out to an early 6-0 advantage before PC rallied with a six-point run highlighted by a three-pointer by Takach to tie the game at the 17:17 mark.
The Lady Bulldogs extended their lead to 24-10 over the next 4:11 of action before four points by Amy Jones and baskets from backcourt teammates Takach and Moore cut the lead to 28-18 with 9:13 remaining in the half.
Takach scored a team-high nine points for PC at the break, while teammate Katlin Moore chimed in with eight points in the first half.
The Lady Blue Hose return home for two games next, beginning with a game against future conference foe UNC Asheville at the Templeton Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5. The Lady Blue Hose will stay home to play in the first game of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader at the Templeton Center with a game against Big South Conference preseason favorite Radford at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
