CLINTON, S.C. ? Junior forward Tricia Bryan (Pawley's Island/Waccamaw) scored in the 61st minute of action to give the Presbyterian College women's soccer team its second straight win on Friday evening at Martin Stadium.
Bryan registered her second goal of the season by sidestepping a Francis Marion defender and firing off a shot into the upper righthand corner of the net. Her goal was the sixth of her career as she led the Blue Hose with three shots on Friday.
PC's (3-7-1, 1-2-1 Big South) win marked the first time the Blue Hose defeated the Patriots (0-10-1) since 2003.
Junior Abby Young (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) made nine stops in goal while the rest of PC's defense forced six of the Patriots shots wide.
Head coach Brian Purcell earned his 216th career victory in front of family and alums on a night that celebrated his 20 years with the women's soccer program.
The Blue Hose will return to league action on Oct. 11 when they visit Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C.
