Blue Hose Compete at Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Presbyterian College men's tennis finished its third tournament of the fall season on Sunday at the 2008 Wofford Invitational at the Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg, S.C.

In addition to playing the Terriers, PC faced off against representatives from Appalachian State and USC Upstate. Freshman Zachary Sprouse (Hilton Head, S.C./Heritage Academy) won two matches in the No. 5 spot, defeating Leandro Osorio of USC Upstate 6-4, 7-6 and Britton Webb of Appalachian State at 6-4, 7-5.  Senior Brad Luciuk (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Evan Hardy Collegiate) also claimed a victory in singles competition with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Wofford's Ryan Byrne at the No. 6 spot.

The duo of senior Patrick Fediuk (Kiberley, British Columbia/Selkirk Secondary) and junior Michael Nicol (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) led the Blue Hose in doubles action. The No. 2 seed recorded 8-6 wins over Terriers' tandem Michael Schecter and Stuart Robertson and Spartans' Osorio and Nicolas Ospina.

Senior Adam Herendeen (Douglasville, Ga./Alexander) and junior Mark Cannatelli (Melbourne, Australia/Box Hill Senior Secondary) went 1-1 in the third flight, earning a 8-5 victory over Elliot Farmer and Byrne.

PC will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the ITA Mideast Regionals on Oct. 16-21.
