PC Drops Three Games On Saturday

DELAND, Fla. ? Presbyterian College dropped all three of its games on Saturday at the Stetson Hatter Softball Classic.

The Blue Hose dropped two games to Stetson, losing its opening game of the day to the Hatters 5-1 before dropping its final game of the day to Stetson by the score of 2-0. The Blue Hose fell 7-0 to Liberty in its second game of the day.

PC is now 7-13 on the season.

Game One

Stetson 5, Presbyterian College 1

The Blue Hose finished their 5-1 loss to Stetson in their opening game of the tournament with just two hits. Both of their hits in the game did not come until the top of the sixth inning.

Stetson pitcher Amanda Lindsey (8-6) had held PC batters hitless until Jenny Box (Fruitland Park, Fla.) singled to center field to get things going for the Blue Hose offensively in the sixth. After Box stole second, PC's Amanda Miller (Orlando, Fla.) was able to double to left field to bring in Box.

It would be all the offense PC could muster in the contest and the Hatters would earn the victory.

Nicole Forbes led the Stetson attack in the contest. Forbes was a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI from the dish.

Lindsey pitched all seven innings for Stetson from the circle, striking out seven. Mary Gordon (Vernon, Conn.) fell to 5-5 with the loss. Gordon fanned two Hatters.

Game Two

Liberty 7, Presbyterian College 0

Liberty's Sarah Ellis allowed PC just one hit in the Flames' 7-0 victory over PC on Saturday afternoon. Ellis struck out seven in her seven innings in the circle to improve to 1-3 on the season.

Laura Tate (Spartanburg, S.C.) registered PC's only hit in the loss to Liberty on Saturday. Tate was 1-for-3 from the plate against Liberty.

Liberty, who just had six hits in the shutout win, was led at the plate by Cassie Hendrix and Ashley Williams. Hendrix was 2-for-2 with three runs scored in the game, while Williams was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.

PC starter Paige Cassady (Orlando, Fla.) fell to 2-4 on the year from the circle with her loss. Cassady had three strikeouts.

Game Three

Stetson 2, Presbyterian College 0

The Blue Hose just managed two hits in its 2-0 loss to Stetson. Tate went 1-for-3 for the second consecutive game, while Box acquired her second hit of the day.

Stetson pitcher Erica Demers improved to 8-2 on the year with her win from the circle. Demers allowed just the two hits to PC and struck out seven. Gordon fell to 5-6 on the year for PC. She fanned three Stetson batters in the game.
