ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? Presbyterian College's women's soccer fell 4-1 to UNC Asheville in its first Big South Conference game of the 2008 season on Wednesday afternoon at Greenwood Soccer Field.

PC's offense came out strong as the team registered four shots in the first 25 minutes of action. Senior Rachel Lamb (Conyers, Ga./Salem) and sophomore Renee Ballew (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) held down the defense to prevent the Bulldogs from making a shot until the 25th minute when midfielder McKenna Stockhausen scored off a pass from Keri Skelton.

UNC Asheville (2-5-1, 1-0-0) boosted its lead to 2-0 four minutes later when Robyn Busha scored her third goal of the season.

The Blue Hose took charge in the second half and capitalized on a corner kick to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 2-1. Senior Sheldon Robinson (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest) sent a perfect pass into the box where junior Tricia Bryan (Pawley's Island, S.C./Lexington) scored her fifth career goal at the 54:55 mark.

PC threatened to tie the game on the next corner kick but UNC Asheville was able to clear its side of the field. Stockhausen made her second assist of the day when she passed the ball to defender Juliana Duncan who scored from five yards out to push the lead to 3-1 at 69:44.

Eight minutes later Stockhausen scored her second goal of the day when she followed up on her own blocked shot to sneak one between the pipes at 77:57, giving the Bulldogs their fourth and final goal of the day.

Junior Abby Young (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) returned to goal after a one-game hiatus and made five saves in the second half.

The Blue Hose (1-6-0, 0-1-0) host Coastal Carolina in their home opener on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.
