Blue Hose Hold Radford to Scoreless Draw

RADFORD Va. ? Presbyterian College's women's soccer team kept Big South Conference foe Radford scoreless for 110 minutes to earn its first draw of the 2008 season.

The Blue Hose registered four shots on goal to the Highlanders' three during regulation.  Four minutes into the first overtime period senior forward Lytle Cannon (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) fired off her second shot on Radford goalie Lisa Lubke. The PC defense kept the Highlanders to two shots that went wide of the goal to force a second overtime.

In the 106th minute a Cannon header resulted from a corner kick by senior midfielder Sheldon Robinson (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest). Lubke made her fifth save of the evening to hold PC scoreless.  Three minutes later junior goalkeeper Abby Young (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) made back-to-back saves on strikes from Radford's Ashley Johnson to seal the tie.

PC (1-7-1) is now 0-2-1 in the Big South while Saturday's game was the first conference game for the Highlanders (5-3).  The Blue Hose broke Radford's three-game win streak at Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium.

PC continues its first season in the Big South Conference by traveling to league foe Gardner-Webb on Wednesday.
