GREENVILLE, S.C. ? The Presbyterian College women's
tennis team succumbed to the No. 75 Furman Paladins by a 7-0 score Saturday
afternoon in a non-conference affair.
The Blue Hose fall to 2-6 on the young season.
PC fought hard in the doubles competition, but the teams
were unable to come out on top. At No. 2 and No. 3, the Blue Hose netted four
points, but came out on the losing side. Megan Davis and Abby Diminich fell to
Susan Bitetti and Jessica Preeg 8-4. Heather Isbell and Cara Caruso, playing
the No. 3 spot, fell by the same count to Monica Arguello and Brooke Mosteller.
In singles play, the best match came from Davis, who was playing the No. 3
position. Davis
lost 6-2 in
the first set before pushing Bitetti to extra points in the second sets.
Hwoever, Davis
lost 7-5 in
the set.
Rookie Daryl Thompson was able to take four games off Mosteller at the No. 6
slot in the second set after being shut out in the first set.
Freshman Paige Oelke grabbed a game off Jennifer Betts in the second set. Oelke
dropped the first set 6-0 before falling 6-1 in the second.
The Blue Hose return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 25, when
they host Winthrop
at 2 p.m.,
in a key Big South Conference match-up.
