Despite scoring first, the Presbyterian College softball team fell to Winthrop
6-2 Thursday evening in the final game of the series between the two this
season.

With one
away in the second, Morgan White belted a double to left center field. She came
home on Mary Gordon's single to make the score 1-0.
Gordon and
the defense were unable to hold the lead. In the bottom half of the second, Taylor Wright doubled, plating Mallory
Hogan to knot the contest at one apiece. Then, Gordon got Veronica Berrie out
with a tremendous pitch, catching her looking on a called third strike.
Two straight walks and a wild pitch put runners on second and third with two
away. Another wild pitch brought the go-ahead run home, making the score 2-1.
With two on, Tessa Thomas hit a three-run homer as the home team took a 5-2
lead after two complete.
Neither
team could plate a run in the third.
Head coach Dave Majeski's squad came to bat in the fourth looking to cut into
the lead. With one down, Leslie Hensley blasted a four-bag hit over the left
field fence. The Blue Hose were unable to plate another run in the inning.
Trailing
5-2, the Eagles came up with one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning for
a 6-2 advantage.
PC could
not get anything going in the seventh as all three batters that went to the
plate did not get on, thus ending the game.

Hose accounted for two runs on four hits while committing one error. Winthrop tallied six runs on six hits but
committed two miscues.

Owings, Hensley, White and Gordon accounted for one hit apiece for Majeski's

four hits while striking out one.
PC returns to action this weekend when they host Coastal Carolina in a
three-game set. On Saturday, the Blue Hose will play a twinbill beginning at 1 p.m. Prior to the start of the game,
there will be a ceremony honoring PC's two seniors ? Laura Tate Owings and Erin
