Blue Hose Tame Terriers, 1-0

Clinton, S.C. - Presbyterian College women's soccer made it three wins in a row at home with a 1-0 win over Wofford on Thursday night.  The Blue Hose left it late but sophomore Morgan Fragapane delivered the win with a cracking goal on 79 minutes.  The win moves PC to 3-4-0 with a trip to Clemson up next for PC.

Both teams earned their chances in the first period as PC registered four shots in the opening frame while Wofford tallied three of their own.  Five of the seven shots were on goal as the keepers were busy throughout the match.

There was nothing between the teams in the first half as they went to the break tied at 0.

Coming out of the intermission, Wofford grabbed control, earning three corner kicks within the first fifteen minutes of the period and taking four shots in the same span.

The teams worked the ball around the midfield for the middle period of the second half.

Fragapane's shot from 26 yards in the 79th minute clanged off the crossbar and bounced over the line to give voice to the momentarily stunned PC contingent.  The goal was her first of the season and second of her career.  Freshman Alice Blackwell earned her first career point with the assist on the play.

Wofford poured players forward over the final ten minutes of the match.  With just under 90 seconds to play Wofford thought they had scored the equalizer but for the linesman's flag going up for offsides.  The Blue Hose defense was not troubled again over the final few seconds to give PC their third win of the season.

The PC goalkeeping duo earned their second combined clean sheet of the season as Abby Young worked the first half making three saves.  Sara Beth Anderson replaced Young at the break and made three more saves to preserve the shutout for the hosts.

PC was outshot in the match, 11-7 and trailed in corners won by a 7-1 margin.  Wofford committed nine fouls to PC's seven.  There were no bookings and each team was flagged offsides twice.

The Blue Hose return to action on Sunday at noon with a match against Clemson.  The match kicks off a four-match road swing that will take PC into Big South play.
