NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College women's
soccer lost 5-0 to Charleston Southern on Monday afternoon at Buccaneer
Field. PC dropped to
5-9-1 overall and 2-3 in Big South play.
The Buccaneers improved to 11-4-1 and 5-0-1 in league matches.
Charleston
Southern went 1-0 up in the fourth minute when Michelle Dennis scored from
18-yards out. She settled the ball at
the right corner of the penalty area and took a shot. The arching shot went over Jordan Broadway
(Chapin, S.C.), PC's goalkeeper, before dipping into the net.
The Blue Hose
defense clamped down in the remaining 41 minutes of the first half to only
trail by a goal at the break. Charleston
Southern out-shot PC 16-3 in the first half.
Nine minutes
into the second half, Toni Lashley put CSU up 2-0 when she scored off a low
cross from Marky Boyce. Just two minutes
later, the Bucs went 3-0 up with Dennis' second goal of the night. She put the ball in the goal off a one-two
pass in the box.
In the 66th
minute, CSU took a 4-0 lead when Caitlin Wesnesky scored on a free kick from
30-yards out.
The final goal
of the match came in the 88th minute when Rebecca Hollstegge got on
the end of a through ball and score her XXth goal of the season.
The Blue Hose
offense registered just four total shots and none on goal.
Broadway went
all 90 minutes for the Blue Hose in goal and made a career-high 13 saves as the
Buccaneers logged a total of 35 shots and 18 on goal.
The Blue Hose
return home for the final two home matches of the season this weekend. The Blue Hose host Gardner-Webb on Friday
night at 7 p.m. before playing Winthrop on Senior Day, Sunday at 2 p.m.
