ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's tennis team lost a 6-1
decision to Winthrop in a Big South Conference match Wednesday.
The Blue Hose (5-11) were led by second-seeded Matt Martin's 7-6, 6-4 win over
Diego Toledo. Zach Sprouse, who played Nadav Ruppin at No. 3, won the first set
6-3 before falling 6-1, 6-1.
Ed Snead, the reigning Big South Freshman of the Week, lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4
to Dejon Bivens.
Fellow newcomer Ivan Ho dropped a 7-5, 6-1 decision to Liran Levy as the No. 5
seed.
Ryan Walters, who came into the match at the No. 6 spot, fell to Guy Kubi 6-2,
6-2.
In the doubles portion of the match, Martin and Ho took on Ruppin and Kubi at
No. 2. The duo played well, but eventually fell 8-6. Third-seeded Snead and
James Zaher lost an 8-5 battle to Bivens and Levy while top-seeded Brigham and
Sprouse lost 8-4 to Belov and Daniel Daudt.
The team returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. against Mercer.
