ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a
hard-fought 7-0 decision to Winthrop Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Hose (1-6) nearly pulled off a win at No. 1 doubles. Heather Heusel
and Paige Oelke lost an 8-7 decision.
Olivia McMillan and Virginia Waldron played at the No. 2 spot. The duo lost 8-2
to Sandra Herrera and Giovanna Portiolli.
Megan Davis and Lindsay Krause took on Lisa Wilkinson and Sara Abutovic at the
No. 3 slot. The duo lost an 8-2 match.
In singles play, McMillan was able to put together the highest scoring set for
PC. However, she dropped a 6-3, 6-0 match to Yasmine Alkema at No. 2.
Heusel, playing at the top seed, lost a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Elizaveta
Zaytseva. Third-seeded Oelke lost a 6-2, 6-0 contest to Herrera at the No. 3
spot.
Krause, who saw time at the No. 6 slot, battled Paula Pereira. She lost a 6-1,
6-1 decision.
Davis lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 to Portiolli while Cara Caruso lost a 6-1, 6-0
score at No. 5 to Wilkinson.
The Blue Hose return to action Friday at Elon.
