CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College football team started spring practice
on Friday afternoon, a day after it was originally slated to start due to the
weather. The Blue Hose, led by second-year head coach Harold Nichols, were able
to get just about all of the practice in before the lightening started, forcing
the squad off the field.
"The energy level was good," Nichols said. "The team is coming off a good
winter. Strength and conditioning coach Matt Taylor has done a great job of
getting the team bigger, faster and stronger."
PC took the field after holding individual meetings. After the first period,
the team broke down and did fundamentals for six sessions.
Periods 9-10 consisted of group one vs. one drills before heading into four
periods of pass skeleton drills.
The squad was able to get in much of the team periods before lightening ended
up halting the final few minutes of practice.
"The young student-athletes have grown up," Nichols said. "I was pleased with
their effort. On the defensive side, CeeJay Harris and Kyle Sharman stood out.
They blended in and had a good first day.
"Connor Norman picked up where he left off after a good first season.
Offensively, Kevin Flangan did a good job. Patrick McCoy picked up where he
left off and Trandon Dendy came back strong with no signs of his injury.
Redshirt-freshman Seth Moreland did well."
The team will continue its spring practice tomorrow morning. The team will hit
the field around 9:30 a.m. and will practice until 11:30 a.m.
