CONWAY, S.C. - Although the Presbyterian College women's
tennis team put forth a strong effort, the team was unable to defeat Coastal
Carolina, falling to the Big South rival on the Chanticleers' Senior Day, 7-0.
The Blue Hose now stand at 4-16 overall and 1-6 in conference play. Coastal
Carolina improves to 17-5 on the year and 4-2 against conference competition.
In doubles play, top-seeded Lexi Bolesky and Miki Bunea downed Heather Heusel
and Paige Oelke 8-6. The No. 2 tandem of Olivia McMillan and Virginia Waldron
dropped the match against Paty Cortes and Mary Hill 8-2 while the No. 3 duo of
Daryl Thompson and Megan Davis lost an 8-4 match.
The closest singles match of the day came when McMillan and Bunea squared off
at No. 2. McMillan tallied four points in the first set, but could get no
closer. She notched four points in the second set as well.
Cara Caruso played well, but dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to No. 5 Maria
Camberos. Davis, playing in the third spot, lost 6-2, 6-1 to Kim Webb. At the
No. 6 slot, Daryl Thompson fell 6-1, 6-2 to Caitlyn Brooksbank.
The Blue Hose will look to get back on track tomorrow against USC-Lancaster.
The match is slated for 3 p.m. and is the last contest of the season for PC.
Before the match, seniors Megan Davis and Virginia Waldron will be honored.
