MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Presbyterian College
women's soccer fell, 3-0 on Friday afternoon to Davidson in the College of
Charleston Tournament at the Patriots Point Complex. The Blue Hose fall to 1-4-1 on the year while
Davidson improves to 3-3.
Davidson was
first on the scoresheet with a deflection goal from Stephanie Gerow. Allison Drutchas produced a corner kick into
the box which was headed towards goal by Rachel Newminster and ultimately
deflected into the net by Gerow. The
goal came in the 17th minute.
In the 24th
minute as Deprise Brazel scored on an rebounded shot by Gerow who earned her
third point of the match.
Neither team
was able to score in the final twenty minutes of the half. Davidson held a 8-5 advantage in shooting during
the first period and led 5-3 in shots on goal.
Eight minutes
after the halftime break, Davidson increased the lead when Brazel scored for
the second time in the match with a breakaway shot 25-yards from goal.
With just thirty
seconds remaining in the match, PC's goalkeeper Sarah Beth Anderson was given a
red card, ejecting her from the match. She
made a total of eight saves in the match before she was replaced by Jordan
Broadway.
PC finished
the match with five shots in the second half.
Kate Baker, Sara Simpson and Emily Boggus each took two shots in the
match to split the team lead.
PC will play
this weekend in the College of Charleston Tournament this weekend against
Davidson on Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. and again on Sunday against College of
Charleston starting at 2:30 p.m.
