PANTHERSVILLE, Ga. - Presbyterian College men's
soccer was unable to mount a late rally on Friday evening to fall, 2-0, to the
Georgia State Panthers. GSU goals came
in the 50th and 60th minutes of the match to take the
victory.
The Blue Hose
fall to 1-3-1 on the season while Georgia State improves to 3-0-2.
Harrison
Russell recorded PC's first shot in the first half in the fifth minute when his
try went wide of the net. The shot was
one of seven shots in the first half for the Blue Hose.
Both teams
were scoreless into the halftime break.
Georgia State's
Darryl Evans opened the scoring at the 49:11 mark by taking a shot from outside
the box into the upper left corner of the net.
The Panthers
went 2-0 up just ten minutes later with Alex Vivanco's second goal of the
season.
With ten
minutes remaining, the Blue Hose were given a manpower advantage as Michael
Nwiloh was given a red card.
The Blue Hose,
however, were unable to capitalize on the one-man advantage in the waning
minutes, failing to register an official shot in the final 27 minutes of the
match.
William
Redmond worked the first 63 minutes of the match before being replaced by James
Neal. Redmond allowed both goals and made
just one save in the appearance. Neal
made one save in the half hour of work.
PC had eight
total shots as compared to the Panthers' 18.
In shots on goal, GSU took a 4-3 lead.
The Blue Hose registered four corner kicks on the evening.
PC will return
to action on Tuesday evening with a trip to NC State. The match begins at 7
p.m.
