Football Set for Homecoming Contest against Gardner Webb

The Presbyterian College football team returns home after a three-game road trip to take on the Gardner Webb Runnin' Bulldogs in Big South action Saturday, Oct. 15th at Bailey Memorial Stadium in Clinton, S.C.  Kick-off for PC's Homecoming game is slated for 2 p.m. and will be televised on WMYA TV-40, as well as on ESPN3.

The Bulldogs and Blue Hose meet for the 34th time in a series dating back to the 1970 season.  PC won that contest 44-20 and rattled off the next four straight wins after that.  PC owns a slight 17-16 advantage and the 26-24 win last season was the first Big South win for the Blue Hose.

Gardner Webb is 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the Big South.  The team fell to Liberty, 35-3, this past Saturday.  Leading the Runnin' Bulldogs offense is Kenny Little, who averages 102.0 yards a game on the ground and has netted 510 yards and four touchdowns this season.  Handling the majority of the catching duties has been James Perry, III, who has caught 22 passes for 294 yards.  He has one TD and is averaging 13.4 yards per catch.

Chandler Browning has gotten most of the snaps at QB and is 31-for-74 with three interceptions and one touchdown.  He is averaging 98.5 yards per game.  Defensively, Devin Johnson leads the way with 51 total tackles (23 unassisted and 28 assisted), including four for a loss and .5 sacks.

The Blue Hose are 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the league and are looking for their first win in four attempts, having dropped the last three by an average of 36.6 points.  PC fell at Stony Brook, 42-24, last Saturday despite netting a PC Division I record 277 yards rushing.  Seth Moreland recorded 102 of those yards, a career-best for him.  Lance Byrd paces the team offensively, averaging 63.8 yards per game on the ground.  Byrd and Moreland have two touchdowns apiece, with Demarcus Rouse leading all scorers with three TDs.

Michael Ruff, who has two TDs as well, leads the air attack averaging 9.7 yards a carry and 38.8 yards a game.  Brandon Miley started at QB the last game and is 25-for-53 this season with two interceptions and one touchdown.  Ryan Singer is 41-for-91 with five interceptions and two touchdowns.  He averages 101.2 yards per game.  Justin Bethel leads the team defensively with 43 tackles (27-16), three for a loss and one sack.  He's also posted three interceptions and blocked two kicks.
