CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's soccer team dropped its 2011 home opener to the Clemson Tigers on a warm Sunday afternoon at Edens Field at Martin Stadium, 8-0.
PC moves to 0-2-0 on the year while Clemson improves to
3-0-0.
Morgan Fragapane (Baltimore, Md.) picked up a shot on goal
for the Blue Hose.
Goalkeeper Sarah Beth Anderson (Grayson, Ga.) made five
saves and Jordan Broadway (Chapin, S.C.) came into the match with 16:20
remaining. Broadway recorded one save in her season debut, a diving effort to
deflect a hard shot into the crossbar and out of harm's way.
Anderson's five saves moved her to 192 stops for her career, just
seven shy of tying Erin Sinkuler for second place all-time.
Taylor Patti (Clover, S.C.) and Shelby Harris (St. Simons
Island, Ga.) made their collegiate debuts on Sunday and Sarah Kustick (Conyers,
Ga.) appeared in her first game of the season.
Maddy Elder and Deana Sherry each scored two goals for the Tigers.
Clemson led 2-0 heading into the final 10 minutes of the
first half, but added three more before the end of the frame to take a 5-0
advantage into halftime.
The Tigers added another goal on a penalty kick shortly after
halftime before scoring goals in the 55th and 86th minutes.
The Blue Hose return to Edens Field at Martin Stadium on Thursday night to host Wofford at 7 p.m.
