Women's Soccer Falls to High Point, 2-0

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's soccer team dropped a Big South Conference match to High Point on Thursday night, 2-0.

PC moves to 1-11-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the Big South. High Point improves to 4-4-6 and 3-0-2 in league action.

The Panthers' Jacky Kessler scored both goals for High Point.

Tori Lopez (Snellville, Ga.) led the Blue Hose with two shots on the night while Kelly Kozera (Rome, Ga.) added another.

Blue Hose goalkeeper Sydney Fontenot made five saves in the effort, stopping four shots in the opening half and one in the second.

The Panthers tested Fontenot four times in the first 15:32 and the freshman netminder turned away all four before Kessler put the Panthers on the scoreboard in the 21st minute. Kessler finished a run up the right side with a shot to the far post and High Point took the lead, 1-0.

PC's defense stopped another Kessler chance before the ball crossed the goal line to head into halftime with the score remaining at 1-0 in favor of the home side.

Kessler struck again in the 54th minute, heading in a cross from Taylor Parker to make the score the eventual final tally, 2-0.

The Blue Hose offense began to pressure the High Point defense as Lopez and Rome fired shots while looking to cut into the Panthers' lead, but the Panthers held onto the clean sheet for the win.

PC will next head to Campbell for a Saturday contest against the Camels at 7 p.m.
