The Presbyterian college men's tennis team won two singles matches and lost two others in three sets to fall to the Charlotte 49ers in action this afternoon at the Templeton Center Tennis Courts in Clinton, S.C.
PC dropped to 2-7 overall, while Charlotte improved to 8-2.
The Blue Hose split number one and two doubles by scores of 9-7 each, but lost at number three, 8-3, giving the 49ers the doubles point to open the match.
In singles play Nathan Crocker picked up the first win in his first singles match of the year with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Nate Shanok. The other PC win came from Zachary Sprouse, who defeated Anthony Davison, 6-3, 6-3.
Close matches of the day included a 6-4, 6-4 loss by Grayson Mills to Jack Williams and a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 loss by Rafael Berghaus to Kamil Khalil. William O'Connell also lost in three sets for PC, falling to Alex Calott 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
In other action 49er Paul Cisti defeated Andrew Brigham, 6-1, 6-4.
The Blue Hose are next in action Saturday, Mar. 5, when they travel to Orlando, Fla., to take on Robert Morris at 11:30 a.m. and South Dakota State at 6 p.m.
