Elizabeth Eisterhold drove in three runs and Jenee Loree pitched her second no-hitter of the season to lead #19 Auburn to the 8-0 win over the Presbyterian College softball team in the final game of the War Eagle Classic held Mar. 9-11 in Auburn, Ala.
PC fell o 5-12 overall, while Auburn improved to 21-3.
Eisterhold delivered an RBI, driving in Brooke Lathan in the bottom of the first inning. Lathan doubled with one out and came home on Eisterhold's single up the middle to give Auburn a 1-0 lead.
After a walk to Caitlin Jordan put runners at second and first, Amber Harrison hit a single through the right side to bring in Eisterhold to give Auburn a 2-0 lead. Jordan, who took third on the play, scored on Baylee Stephens' sacrifice fly to right, to add another run.
Caitlin Schultze increased the Tiger lead to 4-0 with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the second. Lathan made it a 5-0 game with a two-out, solo home run to centerfield.
Eisterhold knocked out a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Tigers the 7-0 lead.
The Tigers loaded the bases in the fifth. With Eisterhold at the plate, Melero scored on a PC errant throw on a pickoff attempt, ending the game at 8-0.
Loree improved to 7-1 in the complete-game win. She threw her fourth career no-hitter and fanned six while not issuing a walk in five innings of work.
Leslie Hensley started for the Blue Hose and went 1.2 innings, giving up five runs off five hits, to take the loss and go to 3-6 on the year.
PC put four hitters on base, one by error, another by an out-producing fielder's choice and two on hit-by-pitches.
The Blue Hose host North Carolina Central Tuesday, Mar. 13 in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
