CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis dropped a Sunday “Pink Out” match to Wofford at Templeton Tennis Courts, 7-0.

PC moves to 7-8 on the year while Wofford improves to 4-6.

The team sported pink shirts and played with pink tennis balls to raise awareness for breast cancer research.

Three of the day's singles matches stretched into three sets and the Blue Hose came out on the short end of two hard-fought 9-7 doubles results.

In doubles action, Wofford began by taking the No. 2 match as Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) and Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) fell to Julia Paulson and Samantha Sullivan, 8-3. The Terriers clinched the point as Cara Caruso (Roswell, Ga.) and Lindsay Krause (Roswell, Ga.) dropped a close third-flight match, 9-7. In the final match, Paige Oelke (Athens, Ga.) and Patricia Alves (Campinas, Brazil) battled but came up short to Guinn Garcia and Sarah Evans, 9-7.

In singles play, Oelke nearly knocked off Evans at No. 1. The Blue Hose senior took the first match by winning the tiebreaker, 7-6  (7-4), but the Terrier took the final two, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).

The dual match also saw a close contest at No. 4. Alves faced Garcia and responded to an opening 7-5 first-set loss with a 6-3 second set victory. Garcia won the last set in a marathon 10-point tiebreaker, however, 1-0 (16-14).

A fifth-set match between deLoach and Lindqvist went the distance as well. The Terrier came out ahead, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.

In the day's other results, Caruso fell to Paulson at No. 2, 6-3, 6-4, while Ransom dropped a second-flight match, 6-3, 6-4. At No. 6, Lucia Leahy (Charlotte, N.C.) stumbled against Emily Przystawski, 6-3, 6-0.

The squad kicks off Big South Conference play on Wednesday at Campbell. The match is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
