CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a Sunday dual match at Coastal Carolina, falling to the Chanticleers by a 7-0 margin.

PC moves to 7-11 on the year and 0-5 in Big South Conference play. Coastal Carolina improves to 13-3 overall and 5-0 in league action.

The Blue Hose provided several close matches. Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) battled Kourtney Kowal at No. 5 and nearly took the contest. The Blue Hose freshman won the first set, 6-4, but fell 7-6 (5-0) in the second and lost the 10-point tiebreaker, 10-6.

Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) faced Mik Kristofersson at No. 3 and dropped a hard-fought first set, 7-6 (3-0), before the Chanticleer wrapped up the match with a 6-2 second set victory.

In other singles action, Miki Bunea topped Paige Oelke at the top flight, 6-1, 6-1, while Cara Caruso (Roswell, Ga.) stumbled at No. 2 to Diana Mortlock, 6-3, 6-0. At the fourth flight, Patricia Alves (Campinas, Brazil) fell to Katie Fosnacht, 6-1, 6-4. At No. 6, Lindsay Krause (Roswell, Ga.) suffered a setback to Amanda Malatek, 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles play, Oelke and Alves dropped a close top-flight contest to Bunea and Mortlock, 8-5. deLoach and Ransom fell at No. 2 to Kristofersson and Fosnacht, 8-3, while Kowal and Maria Hesketh tripped up Krause and Caruso, 8-1.

PC returns home to host Converse on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the squad's final home match of the season. Live video of the contest will be streamed on the Big South Network.
