The Radford Highlanders scored six runs off six hits in the first three innings to earn the 7-2 win over the Presbyterian College in the series finale this afternoon in Radford, Va.
PC dropped to 14-24 overall and 6-7 in the Big South, while Radford improved to 24-13, 9-3, taking the three-game series
The Highlanders opened the bottom of the first inning with two runs off back-to-back doubles. The game's third run came after Hannah Ojeda tripled to right center to open bottom of the second inning and came home off a sacrifice bunt by Micalah Sacre as Radford took the early 3-0 lead.
With two outs in the bottom of the third, Radford recorded three hits in four at-bats which led to two runs, the third coming off an error by the PC right fielder to make it 6-0 in favor of the Highlanders.
The first two of three batters for PC in the fourth inning walked to put runners in scoring position for the first time in the game. After an error loaded the bases, one run came home off a walk and another one came off a fielder's choice as the Blue Hose cut the margin to four, 6-2.
Radford made it 7-2 in the sixth off back-to-back singles with two outs.
PC rallied in the seventh with runners on first and second with two outs, but it was short-lived after Rachel Hopper flied out to left to end the game.
The Blue Hose recorded three hits and had three errors in the game, while the Highlanders posted nine hits and one error.
Kensley Loudermelk started for PC and went one inning, giving up two earned runs off three hits for the loss (7-8). Jackie Jenkins earned the win (10-6), pitching 3.2 innings and giving up just three hits.
