CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's soccer team (0-3-0) plays a pair of Southern Conference teams as it ends its four-match road stretch to open the season. PC takes a Thursday night road trip to Wofford (1-1-0) at 6 p.m. before returning home to host Furman (3-1-0) in a rare Sunday night contest at 7 p.m.
Sunday night's game will be streamed on the Big South Network.
Wofford will take a 1-1-0 record into Thursday evening after coming out on the winning and losing ends of 1-0 scores. The Terriers opened the season with a 1-0 win over Gardner-Webb before dropping a 1-0 contest to Troy on Friday. The team also battled Francis Marion to a 1-1 tie in exhibition play. Ashley Carmean has Wofford's lone goal.
Furman sports a 3-1-0 record heading into the weekend. The Paladins have allowed only one goal on the season and enter Sunday's game coming off of1-0 victories over Clemson (in overtime) and Troy. Georgia handed Furman its only loss of the season, a 2-1 defeat in Athens, Ga., on August 19.
The Blue Hose trail Wofford in the all-time series, 2-4-0. PC last's win came in 2009, a 1-0 victory in Clinton. PC will look for its first win against Furman, trailing by an 0-6-0 tally in the series history. The Blue Hose opened their 2011 season against Furman in Greenville, falling by a 3-0 margin.
Of the team's first three games of 2012, two have gone into overtime--matching last year's overall season total. In 2010, the Blue Hose played bonus soccer in three of their first four and in four matches overall on the year.
PC stays at home for a non-conference tilt against Jacksonville on September 6. The team then takes a 10-day break from competition before traveling to USC Upstate (September 16) and starting Big South play against LIberty (September 20) and Longwood (September 22).
