CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team used a pair of first half goals to down the visiting Campbell Camels on Saturday night, 2-1.
The Blue Hose move to 6-6-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the Big South and will next host Longwood on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The team's six wins marks the most since joining the Big South and its 3-3 league record also represents its best-ever start in league play. PC would answer less than four minutes later. Tori Lopez (Snellville, Ga.) recovered a loose ball outside the box and lifted a long shot that fell under the crossbar for her fourth of the season and the deciding score of the night, 2-1.
Jordan Broadway (Chapin, S.C.) made three saves before Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas) entered at halftime to play the final 45 minutes. Fontenot made one save in the second half.
The Blue Hose outshot Campbell 11-4 in the final stanza and forced Connors to make three of her four saves in the second period.
Lopez led all players with six shots, including two on frame. Sophie Cobb (Columbia, S.C.), Hannah Gaither (Statesville, N.C.), Sara Simpson (Columbia, S.C.) and Allen each tallied one shot on goal as well.
PC's defense and midfield played big minutes in ensuring the victory. Allen, Emily McCord (Asheville, N.C.) and Christy Schofer (Powder Springs, Ga.) all played 90 minute in the effort.
