CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team dropped a narrow Big South Conference match on Wednesday night at Edens Field at Martin Stadium, 2-0.

PC moves to 6-7-0 overall and 3-4-0 in the Big South. The Blue Hose next travel to VMI on Saturday for a noon kickoff in Lexington, Va. Longwood improves to 7-6-2 on the year and 5-1-0 in league action and will host Charleston Southern on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Both teams played an evenly matched game with the Lancers scoring two goals in a three-minute span during the second half. Samantha Phillips scored the first goal of the game by deflecting in a Gina D'Orazio before Kelsey Pardue struck 2:56 later on an unassisted screamer from the top of the goal box.

Aside from two quick goals, each side created its share of chances. In the first half, Kelly Kozera (Rome, Ga.) ripped a long shot that clanged off the crossbar after a Rebecca Miller (Pauline, S.C.) shot from the right side missed the goal by inches.

Kristen Peagler (Lithonia, Ga.) led PC with two total shots and contributed one of three PC shots on frame. Tori Lopez (Snellville, Ga.) and Brittany Whitson (Conyers, Ga.) each tested Longwood goalkeeper Shelby Hall as well.

PC goalkeeper Jordan Broadway (Chapin, S.C.) stopped one shot in the first half before giving way to Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas) at the break, who made two saves in the final 45 minutes.

Defenders Emily McCord (Asheville, N.C.) and Stephanie Allen (Augusta, Ga.) joined forward Sara Simpson (Augusta, Ga.) as three players who played all 90 minutes for the Blue Hose.

Longwood held a narrow edge in shots (12 to nine) and corner kicks (four to three).
