The Presbyterian College football team renews its second-oldest rivalry when it travels up the road to Spartanburg, S.C., Saturday, Oct. 5, to take on the Wofford Terriers in a 1:30 p.m., contest.
PC will travel up the road to Spartanburg for the first time since 2008, when the Terriers came away with a 38-21 win. The series dates back to the 1914 season. In just PC's second year of college football, the Blue Hose took to the field and defeated the Terriers 104-0. After nine consecutive wins, Wofford earned its first win in 1924, a 19-7 decision.
In all the two teams have met 81 times with the Terriers having taken the last four contests, including a 35-28 win in Clinton in 2011. The Blue Hose scored 21 unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters to tie then No. 8 Wofford in 2011, but a Terrier touchdown in the final minute gave the visitors a win.
Head Coach Harold Nichols never lost to Wofford as a player. The Blue Hose won all four games against the Terriers during his time as a student-athlete from 1986-89.
PC leads the overall series 40-38-3 with its last win over Wofford coming in a 10-7 decision in 1994.
