GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team captured two singles wins on Sunday afternoon at Furman but fell to the Paladins at Mickel Tennis Center, 5-2.

PC moves to 4-6 overall on the year and 2-6 in the spring. The Blue Hose next face NC Central on Saturday in a 1 p.m. matchup before beginning Big South Conference play at Longwood on Sunday, also at 1 p.m. Furman improves to 2-4.

In singles action, Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) picked up his second straight win while Gonzalo Asis (Madrid, Spain) earned his third consecutive victory. Bruce handled Tyler Droll at the fifth flight, 6-4, 6-1, while Asis bested Robbie Aru in straight sets as well, 6-0, 7-6. Asis led the second set by a 6-5 margin and held off the Paladin to get the result.

Furman clinched the victory with four singles wins, beginning as Andrew Brigham (Birmingham, England) fell to Matt Brown, 6-4, 6-2, at the fourth flight.

 After Bruce's win, Rafael Berghaus (Offenbach, Germany) dropped two close sets to Jacob Behal at the third flight, 6-4, 6-4.

William O'Connell (Nadi, Fiji) then dropped a tough second-flight tilt to Joel Cook, 7-6, 6-3. At No. 1, Grayson Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) battled but fell to Andrew Mellow, 6-3, 7-6.

Furman took the doubles point by way of two close matches. Mellow and Cook edged Berghaus and Mills, 8-6, before Droll and Behal pushed past Asis and Nathan Crocker (Clinton, S.C.), 8-4. Though the Paladins clinched the point, Brigham and O'Connell grabbed a second-flight victory by holding off Browne and Richard Casagrande, 8-6. The victory marked the pair's third doubles win of the season.
