ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a Big South Conference match on the road Thursday, falling to No. 71 Winthrop, 7-0.

PC moves to 6-9-1 and returns home to host North Carolina A&T on Friday at 1 p.m. Winthrop improves to 5-3.

In doubles, Winthrop's Andressa Garcia and Alice Garcia defeated the No. 1 pairing of Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) and Courtney Garidner (Powder Springs, Ga.) in an 8-3 result. PC's No. 3 duo of Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) and Caroline Ferrari (Rome, Ga.) fell by the same score to Beth Williamson and Tijana Uzelac. The Eagles' Ekin Gunaysu and Caitlin Cridland took the second flight match over Patricia Alves (Campinas, Brazil) and Kayla Stanford (Canton, Ga.).

In singles play, Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) dropped her top-flight match to Andressa Garcia, 6-4, 6-1, while Alves fell at No. 2 to Alice Garcia, 6-2, 6-4. Winthrop's Cridlind won over Gardiner at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1. The bottom three flights all fell by 6-1, 6-0 results as deLoach (fourth), Lucia Leahy (fifth) and Stanford (sixth) all suffered setbacks against the Eagles.
