CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team will head to Greenville on Tuesday for a midweek non-conference game at Furman at 4 p.m. Weather concerns forced the teams to move up the starting time from the original schedule.
PC enters the week with a 10-14-1 record and a 3-3 marker in the Big South as the Blue Hose will look to snap a five-game losing streak. VMI edged PC by one run on both Saturday and Sunday as PC rallied late and placed the tying run at third in the ninth inning in both games.
Senior infielder Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) leads the team with a .370 batting average, a .452 on-base percentage, a .460 slugging percentage and 17 RBI—which ties him with junior Cam McRae (Darlington, S.C.) in that category. Senior righthander Chandler Knox (Columbia, S.C.) leads the PC rotation with a 2.63 ERA and junior southpaw Beau Dees (Blenheim, S.C.) boasts 37 strikeouts. PC is 7-0 when leading after the first inning and has outscored opponents 25-8 in the third inning.
Furman (9-15, 1-2 SoCon) enters the week coming off of a series loss to UNC Greensboro that saw the Paladins drop both games of a Saturday road doubleheader, 14-8 and 8-6. Against common opponents, Furman fell to Georgia (6-4) and topped USC Upstate (13-1) before losing all three games of a series to Gardner-Webb on March 8-9. Chris Ohmstede paces Furman at the plate with a .330 batting average while Greg Harrison brings a .474 slugging percentage and 19 RBI into Tuesday's matchup. The Paladins hit .288 as a team and have compiled a 5.29 team earned run average.
Following Tuesday's game, PC returns home to host Liberty in a Big South Conference weekend series that begins on Friday at 3 p.m.
