CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team returns to the PC Baseball Complex this weekend for a three-game set against the Winthrop Eagles on Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Free live video will be available for Friday's game on the Big South Network presented by State Farm. Zeta Tau Alpha will also hold its annual “Pink Out” game on Friday to raise money for breast cancer research awareness.
PC (10-22-1, 3-9 Big South) will look to halt a drought following a Tuesday road loss to Western Carolina. The Blue Hose enter the week with a 5-5-1 record at the PC Baseball Complex and look to Jacob Midkiff (Rock Hill, S.C.) and Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) as offensive leaders. Midkiff brings a .330 batting average into the weekend while Zebedis stands at .325 with a team-leading .420 on-base percentage.
Chandler Knox (Columbia, S.C.) leads PC's starting pitching staff with a 3.44 earned run average and four wins, along with Beau Dees (Blenheim, S.C.). Dees leads the staff with 40 strikes outs and Ethan Wortkoetter (Greer, S.C.) has thrown well in Big South Conference play, going 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA in nine appearances for 15.1 innings.
Winthrop (17-19, 8-4 Big South) picked up a 5-2 win over Charlotte on Wednesday after a 3-2 road loss at USC Upstate on Tuesday. The Eagles took two games from Radford over the weekend and swept UNC Asheville on March 29-30. TJ Olesczuk leads the team with a .414 batting average, a .468 on-base percentage and 19 RBI. The Eagles hit only .236 as a team but their pitching staff boasts a 3.12 earned run average, buoyed by Sam Kmiec's 2.30 ERA and 4-1 record in eight starts.
Following this weekend's series, PC stays at home to host Furman on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
