CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College women's soccer team played to a 2-2 double overtime draw with the UNC Asheville Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon at Martin Stadium.
Both teams scored one goal apiece during each half of regulation, but neither team was able to score in either overtime period.
Sarah Yoss (Peachtree City, Ga./Starr's Mills H.S.) scored the first goal of the game for PC (3-4-1) in the 21st minute off a rebounded shot from the foot of Kristen Peagler (Lithonia, Ga./Southwest DeKalb H.S.). The goal was Yoss' sixth of the season.
The Bulldogs (6-3-1) responded in the 39th minute when Amanda Dailor's free kick from the right side of the field was nudged in by Paige Trent to tie the game 1-1 at halftime.
Peagler scored her second goal of the season in the opening minute of the second half when the broke past the Bulldogs' defense and converted the open shot to take a 2-1 lead.
Trent scored again for the Bulldogs with 5 seconds on the clock in regulation play when she kicked in a loose ball from Dailor's corner kick from the left corner.
PC recorded eight shots in the two periods of overtime and UNC Asheville had five, but neither team was able to convert for a score.
Both teams were nearly matched in shots throughout the game, but the Bulldogs had a slight 23-22 shot advantage over the Blue Hose. They also led 4-2 in corner kicks.
Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas/James Bowie H.S.) recorded 10 saves in the tie for Presbyterian. Heather Muller made nine saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
The Blue Hose will continue Big South Conference action on Wednesday Oct. 1 when they host Charleston Southern at 7 p.m.
