CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on the year after opening the home season with wins over NC Central and Savannah State on Saturday at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
PC started the day of competition with a close 5-2 win over the Eagles.
Claire-Mitchell Andrews (Tampa, Fl.) and Brittany Nuttall (Atlanta, Ga.) picked up a 6-2 win in flight 2, while Sara McBride (Travelers Rest, S.C.) and Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) also got a 6-2 victory at flight 3 to give PC the doubles point.
In singles action, Claire-Mitchell Andrews put the Blue Hose up 2-0 after earning her second win of the season at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Ekaterina Nekrasova defeated Demi Henschel (Alberta, Canada) 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles to pull the Eagles within one point, but Caroline deLoach extended PC's lead to 3-1 with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.
Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) dropped a close match to Aissa Muamba (6-2, 6-4) at No. 1 singles to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Blue Hose.
Sara McBride earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles to ensure the victory for the Blue Hose and Brittany Nuttall won her three-set match at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 11-9 to give the hosts a 5-2 victory.

The ladies continued their winning ways later in the afternoon, picking up a 6-1 win over the Savannah State Tigers.
Claire-Mitchell Andrews and Brittany Nuttall earned a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles, and since Savannah State did not field a team at No. 3 doubles, PC was awarded the doubles point. The Tigers did not have a player at No. 6 singles, so PC took an early 2-0 lead.
Sara McBride swept No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0 to remain undefeated in her young career and extend PC's lead to 3-0.
Antonia Conze (Willich, Germany) earned her first win of the year at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0 to put PC up 4-0.
Caroline deLoach closed out line 3 with a 6-0, 6-0 win to give the Blue Hose a 5-0 lead. Brittany Nuttall dropped a 6-3, 6-1 match at No. 1 singles to give the Tigers their only point of the day.
Claire-Mitchell Andrews closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-2 win at line 2 to give the hosts a final score of 6-1.
