Charleston Southern sails past PC

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team got taken down by Charleston Southern 4-1 Thursday at CSU Soccer Field. Erin Moriarty netted the loan goal for PC.

The Blue Hose fell to 6-9-0, 2-5-0 in the Big South Conference, while the Buccaneers improved to 6-5-2, 3-3-0.

CSU netted three goals in the first half. Anna Sells scored the first goal in the 8th minute for her eighth of the season with the assist from Emily Moore. Erica Gazzani scored her third goal of the year in the 19th minute. Sidney Doherty finished the scoring in the first half in the on a pass from Sells.

The Buccaneers found the back of the net again in the 68th minute. Kate Brede passed the ball to Sells who scored her second goal of the game.

The Blue Hose had a corner in the 75th minute that bounced around in the 18-yard box. PC gathered position of the ball and Moriarty (Daniel Island, S.C.) fired a shot in the back of the net for her first goal of the year.

PC generated 14 shots and put six on goal.

Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas) gathered two saves in 72:31 minutes of play, while Cadye Picklesimer (Grayson, Ga.) generated two saves in 17:29 minutes of action.

Presbyterian travels to take on Gardner-Webb 7 p.m. Wednesday in Boiling Springs, N.C.
