CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team was blanked by Winthrop in the Big South Conference opener on Thursday afternoon, 7-0.

PC moves to 6-3 overall and 0-1 in Big South play. The Eagles improve to 3-6 on the year and 1-0 in the conference. 

In doubles, Winthrop's Alice Garcia and Mariana Humberg defeated the No. 1 pairing of Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) and Demi Henschel (Alberta, Canada) in an 8-6 result. PC's No. 2 duo of Claire-Mitchell Andrews (Tampa, Fla.) and Brittany Nuttall (Atlanta, Ga.) fell 8-1 to Ekin Gynaysu and Tijana Uzelac. 

Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) and Madison Utberg (Roswell, Ga.) handed Monica Aguado and Camille Amrani an 8-4 loss at No. 3 doubles to give PC it's lone win of the day. 

In singles play, Ransom dropped her top-flight match to Garcia, 6-1, 6-1, while Nuttall fell at No. 2 to Gunaysu, 6-1, 6-0. Winthrop's Humberg won over Henschel, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 3 and Uzelac knocked off Andrews 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4. deLoach was defeated by Aguado at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2 and Amrani beat Utberg at the bottom flight, 6-1, 7-5.
