CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College men's tennis team closed out the regular season with two wins on Friday at the Templeton Tennis Courts, first against Big South Conference rival Winthrop, 4-3, and then a 7-0 sweep of North Greenville.
PC hits the 20-win milestone as the team's record goes to 20-8 overall and 4-4 in Big South Conference action. Winthrop goes to 12-7 and 5-2 in the Big South, while North Greenville drops to 7-12 overall. The Blue Hose will partake in the Big South Conference Tournament starting next weekend in Asheville, N.C.
After a rain delay postponed the first match a few hours, the Eagles and Blue Hose first competed at singles at 3 p.m.
Brandon Mills (Lilburn, Ga.) gave PC a 1-0 lead with his 7-5, 6-2 victory over Ruben Franzanti at line 6. Tremayne Mitchell defeated Alexander Lykou (Aarhus, Denmark) 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles to tie the match up.
Ryan Miller (Norcross, Ga.) dropped a match at line two to Dylan Comerfield, 6-4, 6-4, but Danny Bruce (Marietta, Ga.) tied it up 2-2 with his 6-3, 6-4 win over Winthrop's Michael Chen at No. 5.
Alejandro Bejar (Madrid, Spain) earned a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 win at line 3 against Steven Patrick and Diego Manzanas (Madrid, Spain) decided the match for PC with his comeback win over Peter Nagovnak at No. 4 singles, 3-6, 7-6, 6-3.
With the match clinched 4-2, the teams headed into doubles play.
Winthrop won flights one and three over the Blue Hose, but Joel Roberts (Summerville, S.C.) and Ben Kelley (Weaverville, N.C.) won No. 2 doubles 8-6 over Mitchell and Patrick to go undefeated in conference play.

PC concluded the season with a 7-0 sweep of the North Greenville Crusaders in a night match at the courts. The Blue Hose won in straight sets in all singles matches and also swept doubles play.
Bruce and Manzanas beat Jose Gomez and Sergio Filho at No. 1 doubles, 8-3. Steven Weaver (Charleston, S.C.) and Miller bested NGU's No. 2 team of Sjors van Eck and Marcel Yshikawa, 8-4. Will Baird (Raleigh, N.C.) and Lukas Luckemeier (Greven, Germany) earned an 8-2 win over Santiago Robles and Alejandro Torre at flight three.
In singles, Bejar earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot over van Eck to go 23-2 overall during his first collegiate year of competition.
Roberts beat Filho 6-3, 6-4 at line two, Mills bested Gomez 6-4, 6-1 at line three, and Manzanas earned another victory at No. 4 with his win against Robles, 6-1, 6-0.
Baird got a win at No. 5 against Torre, 6-1, 6-1 and Luckemeier beat Torres 6-0, 6-1 at line six.
