RADFORD, VA- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team won three singles matches, but dropped all three doubles matches, as Radford went on to take the Big South Conference, 4-3, on Friday afternoon at the Radford University Tennis Complex.
PC falls to 12-8 overall and 1-6 in the Big South. Radford improves to 5-10 on the year and 2-6 in conference action.
The Blue Hose split singles matches with the Highlanders, as PC won lines one, two, and four.
Brittany Nuttall (Atlanta, Ga.) earned a win at No. 1 singles in three sets over Taylor Newman, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 for PC's highest finish of the day.
Claire-Mitchell Andrews (Tampa, Fla.) bested Natalie Sayer, 6-2, 6-2 at line two for her second conference win this week.
Sara McBride (Travelers Rest, S.C.) earned a Big South win at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-0, over Taylor Fay.
Gemma Valls beat Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, Meg Napolitano defeated Madison Utberg (Roswell, Ga) at line five, and Grace Sarver handed Antonia Conze (Willich, Germany) a 6-0, 6-0 loss at No. 6.
Radford went on to win all three doubles flights over PC, as Sayer and Valls beat deLoach and McBride, 8-2 at No. 1, Newman and Fay defeated Nuttall and Andrews, 8-6 at flight two, and Sarver and Napolitano bested Utberg and Conze, 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
