CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team was handed a 5-2 loss by UNC Asheville on Wednesday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) won her 15th match of the season in the loss, which stands as a PC Division I record for most wins in a season, previously set by Paige Oelke in 2011 with her 14 wins during her junior season at PC.
The Blue Hose drop to 13-6 overall (1-7 Big South Conference), while Asheville moves to 12-9 on the year and 3-4 in conference play.
The Bulldogs picked up the doubles point after Emily McNall and Ericka Rivero beat deLoach and Sara McBride (Travelers Rest, S.C.) 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. PC was unable to field a full six players for the match, so the Bulldogs earned the win at flight three by default.
PC earned a point when Christin Boissevain was unable to finish her match with McBride at No. 4 singles due to injury. deLoach earned PC's only win of the conference match with her 6-3, 7-5 victory against Amryn Soldier at line three.
McNall defeated Brittany Nuttall (Atlanta, Ga.) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Rivero beat Claire-Mitchell Andrews (Tampa, Fla.) 6-0, 6-0 at line two. and Amalie Davidsen handed Antonia Conze (Willich, Germany) a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 loss at No. 5 to give the Bulldogs the win.
