CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team fell to Francis Marion 2-1 in double overtime Sunday night at Martin Stadium.
The Blue Hose outshot the Patriots 22-8 and held an 8-3 shots on goal advantage. PC starts the season at 0-1, while Francis Marion went to 1-1
Francis Marion struck first in the 19th minute off a corner. The ball was crossed into the 18-yard box and fell to Breanna Henderson who beat the keeper to score the first goal of the game.
Presbyterian struck late to tie the game in the 71st minute. Freshman Ashlynn Powell (Simpsonville, S.C.) shot from the right corner of the 18 and found the side netting on the left side to give the Blue Hose new life.
Helena Moore scored the game winner in the 112th minute when she chipped the goalie outside the 18.
Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas) collected one save in the game.
The Blue Hose travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to play North Florida 5 p.m. Friday.
