LEXINGTON, Va. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team topped Hampton 10-0 in their final game of the VMI Tournament at Patchin Field. PC held Hampton to one shot in the game.
The Blue Hose have not scored double digit goals since Sept. 7 1992 in a 10-0 win against Agnes Scott. PC returns to 4-4 while the Pirates fell to 0-6 on the season. Three Presbyterian players scored two goals in the game.
Savannah Austin (West Columbia, S.C.) started the early and often scoring for PC in the seventh minute. Austin shot from 10 yards out and Frances Whitesides (Lancaster, S.C.) provided the assist.
Sophie Cobb (Columbia, S.C.) Megan Archer (Charlotte, N.C.) and Hannah Gaither (Statesville, N.C.) all scored twice for the Blue Hose. Stephanie Lee (Suwanee, Ga.), Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas) and Naya Martin (McDonough, Ga.) rounded out the scoring.
The Blue Hose took 37 shots and put 18 on frame.
Cadye Picklesimer (Grayson, Ga.) played all 90 minutes in her second start of the season, but did not register a save.
Presbyterian starts conference play 7 p.m. Wednesday against Coastal Carolina at Martin Stadium.
