PC falls to Coastal Carolina in first conference match

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team dropped their first Big South conference game of the season to Coastal Carolina 3-1 Wednesday night at Martin Stadium.

Sarah Yoss (Peachtree City, Ga.) scored the lone goal for PC as the Blue Hose fell to 4-5-0, 0-1-0 Big South conference play, while the Chanticleers improved to 5-4-0, 1-0-0 in the Big South.

Coastal's Taylor Ellie netted her second goal of the year in the 12th minute. A Chanticleer player shot the ball and was deflected by the PC goalie and landed right to Ellie who scored to put Coastal Carolina up 1-0.

Daniella Famili scored for the Chanticleers in the 21st minute off a cross from Ellie Taylor for her fourth of the season. Coastal scored once more in the 42nd minute. The Chanticleers sent in a corner kick that bounced around before Mikayla Williams put a foot on it and scored her second goal of the year.

In the 48th minute, PC's Ashlynn Powell (Simpsonville, S.C.) crossed a ball from the right side that found Yoss who put in her second goal of the year.

Sydeny Fontenot (Austin, Texas) collected eight saves between the posts for the Blue Hose.

Presbyterian continues conference play 7 p.m. Saturday against Radford in Radford, Va.
