RADFORD, Va. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team scored two goals in the last 13 minutes of the game to top Radford 2-1 Saturday night at Cupp Stadium.
The Blue Hose gathered their first Big South conference win of the season and improved to 5-5-0, 1-1-0 in the Big South, while the Highlanders also went to 5-5-0, 1-1-0 on the season.
Rebecca McGrath (Hampstead, N.H.) netted her first goal of the season in the 76th minute to give PC a late 1-0 lead. The Blue Hose had a corner that Radford was unable to clear and McGrath poked the ball in the back of the net.
The Highlanders responded a minute later to tie the match. Hannah Thomas sent a cross from the right side of the box that was headed in by Denny Lexi.
Sophie Cobb (Columbia, S.C.) scored the game winning goal in the 77th minute off a free kick and collected her fourth of the year.
The Blue Hose took seven shots and put four on frame.
Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas) generated a season high nine saves in the win.
Presbyterian continues Big South conference play 7 p.m. Saturday at UNC Asheville.
