Blue Hose take down SC State

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College topped South Carolina State 2-0 Tuesday night at Martin Stadium. The Blue Hose scored a goal in each half to seal the victory.

The PC women's soccer team improved to 2-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-4 on the year.

Senior Hannah Gaither (Statesville, N.C.) fired a shot on the left side, just outside the 18 yard box, that found the back of the net in the 18th minute to put the Blue Hose up 1-0. It was Gaither's first of the season.

Stephanie Lee (Suwanee, Ga.) netted her second goal of her freshman campaign in the 48th minute and was assisted by Francis Whitesides (Lancaster, S.C.). Whitesides played a long ball down the field that Lee caught up to it just outside the 18 and beat the keeper to put PC up 2-0.

The Blue Hose held a 19-5 shot advantage while leading 11-2 shots on goal.

Sydney Fontenot (Austin, Texas) collected two save in her second clean slate of the season.

Presbyterian returns to action 7 p.m. Friday against USC Upstate at Martin Stadium.
