CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Five Presbyterian College football players were honored by the Big South on Tuesday, as the league announced its annual All-Conference teams and awards. DaShawn Davis, Khari Rosier, Obinna Ntiasagwe and Brett Norton were each named to the second team All-Big South squad, while Ryan Brown earned a spot on the All-Academic Team. Each player earned All-Big South honors for the first time in their career.
DaShawn Davis, WR, Second Team
Davis was PC's leading receiver on the year, totaling 42 receptions on the year for 455 receiving yards and a touchdown. The sophomore finished fourth in the Big South in receptions and seventh in receiving yards, recording the most catches and yards by a PC player since 2014. The native of Inman, S.C. put together the best game of his career against Florida Tech on September 24, totaling 12 receptions for 129 yards, both career highs. The 12 catches were the most by a Big South player this season and tied for the most in a single-game by a PC player in the program's Division I era. The 100-yard game was one of 12 by Big South players this year and was the also the most receiving yards by a PC player since 2013. Davis was also a key player in the return game for the Blue Hose, totaling 975 all-purpose yards on the season.
Khari Rosier, DE, Second Team
Rosier capped off his career with a standout senior campaign, recording 63 tackles on the season, most by a defensive lineman in PC's Division I era. The defensive end also tallied 8.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks on the season, pushing his career totals to 24.0 and 9.5, respectively, both of which rank fourth on PC's Division I career lists. He finished third in the Big South in tackles by a defensive lineman and second in the category in league games. The native of Lithonia, Ga. established a new career-high with 13 tackles against Kennesaw State on November 12, the most tackles by a PC player in a game this season. Rosier also ranked in the top 10 in the league in tackles for loss.
Obinna Ntiasagwe, DE/DT, Second Team
Ntiasagwe moved around the defensive line this season, totaling 43 tackles on the year, fifth-most on the team. The redshirt junior came in seventh in the Big South in tackles by defensive lineman and eighth in tackles by defensive lineman in league games. He also recorded a career-high at Kennesaw State, reaching eight tackles as he and Rosier combined for 21 tackles against the triple option offense. The native of Columbia, S.C. recorded at least five tackles four times on the year. He ends the year having started a team-high 21 straight games, after starting each game this season between defensive tackle and defensive end.
Brett Norton, P, Second Team
Norton recorded one the best seasons by a punter in PC's Division I history, establishing program records for punts (83), punting yards (3,354), 50-yard punts (12) and punts downed inside the 20-yard line (23). The sophomore averaged 40.4 yards per punt, second-best average in the program's D1 era, coming in his first season as a punter. He finished the season as the league leader in punts and punting yards, while ranking third in punting average. The native of Walhalla, S.C. averaged 41.7 yards per punt in conference play, second-best in the league. He recorded the longest punt in the Big South this season, a 64-yarder at Chattanooga in just his second game punting at the collegiate level. The punt is the second-longest in PC's Division I era. Norton's success helped PC rank 10th nationally in net punting, averaging 39.1 net yards punt this year.
Ryan Brown, DE, All-Academic
Brown finished his senior campaign with a career-high 28 tackles, including 0.5 sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. The defensive end forced a fumble against Liberty to give PC the ball in Flames' territory. He then set his career high with five tackles at Kennesaw State, in a game that allowed the defensive line to showcase its ability. The business administration major has compiled a 3.84 grade point average for his career, highest on the team among all regulars in 2016.
