CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis fell to Charleston Southern, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Clinton, S.C.
The Buccaneers swept doubles play to take the early 1-0 lead in the match. Nicolin Luecke and Valeria Koussenkova earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 and Brianna Thompson and Kimberley Koerner took a 6-4 victory at No. 2. Gabriela Srodowski and Sophie Cloessner edged PC's Nicole Croxton and Celine Schepers, 7-5, on court three.
In singles, Charleston Southern claimed all six matches for the victory. Tracy Johnson battled on court two but came up just short of forcing a third set, falling 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). Claire-Mitchell Andrews played a close match on court five, taking set two, 6-4, after dropping the opening frame, 6-3. Koerner would hold for the three-set victory by taking the decisive third-set tiebreaker, 10-7.
The Blue Hose return to action on Tuesday with a non-conference match at Wofford.
