Radford held the Presbyterian College softball team to five hits, while collecting 10, to take a 4-1 win in the series finale Sunday in Radford, Va.
The Blue Hose, who drop to 21-22 overall and 7-10 in the Big South, return home Wednesday, April 20, for a 3 p.m., game against Winthrop. Radford improves to 29-15, 10-5.
After two and a half quiet innings, Radford was the first to get on the board with a Nia Chiles triple in the bottom of the third bringing home Hannah Medlam, who had reached off a single to center.
The lead was short-lived as Megan Anderson singled to left with one out in the top of the fourth. Kelsie Sanchez brought the run home in the next at-bat off a double to right to tie the game at 1-1.
With two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Radford rattled off four hits in a row, including a RBI double by Kayla Bishton and RBI singles from Jessica Curbiera and Medlam, to break the tie and build a 4-1 lead.
The Blue Hose were unable to mount a rally in the next three innings and fell to Radford for the third time in a row, with the three-run decision
Radford finished with 10 hits and no errors, with Chiles, Curbiera and Medlam each recording two apiece. Abby Morrow pitched a complete game for the Highlanders and struck out six, while giving up just one run off five hits for the win (17-10).
PC finished with five hits, with Sanchez leading the way with two, to go along with her one RBI. Sydney Seigler moved to 9-11 on the year after going 3.2 innings and surrendering four runs off seven hits, while striking out five. Katie Brown came in relief and threw 2.1 innings of shutout softball, giving up just three hits.
