BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Presbyterian College softball team took game one, 7-5, and dropped game two, 2-0, against Campbell on Saturday at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
The Blue Hose improved to 18-15, 4-3 in the Big South Conference, while Campbell went to 16-18, 3-4 on the season. The two teams complete the three-game series 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Hope Rogers went 3-for-7 with four RBI's and two home runs for the Blue Hose, while Kelsie Sanchez went 3-for-6 with two RBI's on the day.
Katie Baker went 4-for-6 with two RBI's for Campbell, while Rachel McCollum went 2-for-7 with two runs and two RBI's on the afternoon.
GAME 1
Erin Ruff (Chardon, Ohio) led off the game with a double before Kelsie Sanchez (Clearwater, Fla.) reached first on a bunt. Hope Rogers (Gatson, S.C.) brought everyone home with a three-run home run to left center and put the Blue Hose up 3-0 in the first.
Blaire Miller (Dayton, Va.) singled up the middle with two outs in the second inning. Ruff singled to center and advanced Miller. Sanchez doubled to left center that plated both base runners and put PC up 5-0 in the second.
Campbell scored a run in the fourth and fifth before they recorded two runs in the sixth and cut the Blue Hose lead to 5-4.
Rogers clobbered her second home run of the game over the center field fence and extended the PC lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh. Kersten Legacki (Cooper City, Fla.) reached on a fielding error by the right fielder and scored on a wild pitch that ended the Blue Hose scoring.
Katie Baker homered to right field for the Camels in the bottom of the seventh.
Sydney Siegler (North Augusta (S.C.) threw the complete game with five runs on nine hits and struck out two for PC.
Baker pitched 6.1 innings with seven runs on 11 hits and struck out five for the Camels.
Rogers went 3-for-4 with four RBI's and scored twice, while Sanchez went 3-for-3 with two RBI's and scored once.
GAME 2
Legacki registered the Blue Hose only hit in the second inning with a single to center field.
Amber Schisler walked in the second inning before Madison Casto singled through the left side for Campbell. Both of the base runners advanced on steals before Karsen Leonhardt recorded two RBI's on a single to center field.
Katie Brown (Moody, Ala.) threw six complete innings with two runs on four hits and struck out two for the Blue Hose.
Courtney Roberts pitched a complete game one hitter and struck out four.
